Our 2017 Splendour in the Grass Predictions

(image abc.net.au)

It's almost that time again! Australians are waiting for the biggest festival announcement of the year, Splendour in the Grass.

So who's flying in? Don't worry, we got you. We've scoured the web for gaps in touring schedules and the best rumours to bring you our top predictions on who's in and who's out.

LCD Soundsystem

The formidable LCD Soundsystem are back! Their Sounds of Silver record just turned 10 years old this month. They've been announced for a heap of major festivals across the globe and now it might just be time for them (please) to come back down under. The last time they were here was Splendour in the Grass 2010 and The Big Day Out 2011. Far too long in our opinion. They've been announced on the Fuji Rock lineup with is a promising sight as many of the Fuji Rock bands often crossover with Splendour in the Grass. Here's to a killer set in the ampi from James Murphy and his mates come July. **fingers and toes crossed**

Lorde

Let's hope Lorde's got the 'Green Light' to play Splendour. She's definitely releasing her singles with a good amount of lead time to be able to play the festival. She's also on the killer Fuji Rock lineup.

Bonobo

Announcing a New Zealand show recently on Thursday July 27, Bonobo's kiwi jaunt sits rather tidy next to a possible Splendour appearance. Let's hope he brings Nick Murphy aka Chet Faker on stage to sing this banger.

The XX

It's about time The XX joined us for a singalong once again. The last time they were here was 2013 and it's been waaaay too long between drinks. With a clear gap in their schedule around 21-23 July we sure hope there's some time for a singalong in the ampi.

Father John Misty

Splendour needs a little bit of tongue in cheek banter and poetic lyricism. Father John Misty would be the perfect one to provide it too. With a new album 'Pure Comedy' on the way, we're due a tour of some sort. With a rather big gaping hole in his touring schedule online at the moment we are really hoping he'll bring his pure comedy and dapper vibes to Byron Bay come July.

Little Dragon

Please oh please bring back the magic that is Little Dragon. They've got an album out in April and a very healthy sized gap where some Splendour dates would fit just nicely.

Ruled out

Let's take a quick moment to see who's completely ruled out

Kasabian - Doing a bunch of shows in Italy during Splendour

Lana Del Rey - At Lollapalooza Paris. How Romantic.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Yup. These dudes will be in Paris with Lana.

Skepta - Splendour for Skepta is SHUT DOWN. He's in Paris too.

Alt-J - They'll be doing some EU fests.

All will be revealed in the next month or so we think. Time to start saving and then planning that outfit. Find out more info and sign up to the Splendour mailing list for all the goss here.
